Video Project: Cultural Diversity - Historical Hero

Project Title:

Significant Historical Hero Oral Report (Cultural Diversity Project)

Due Date:

February 22, 2010

Description:

All students will give a presentation (approx. 3-5 minutes in length) on the historical hero chosen for their written history report, Biography on a Significant Historical Hero.

Goals:

  • To assist students in gaining knowledge of other cultures
  • To give students positive role models
  • To encourage students in making oral presentations
  • To give opportunities for students to use their various talents and multiple intelligences

Requirements Option 2
(for 7th-8th grade students in Computer Elective):

When incorporating your speech into the movie/slide show, give the name of the historical figure, the important points of his/her life, andy interesting facts (that most people wouldn't know), and any other info you you to present about this individual. MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE A BIBLICAL INTEGRATION, telling how or why this person had Godly character. Bibliographic sources are required.

Movie Presentation OR
Live Speech with Movie/Slideshow Background

  • Include pictures that pertain to the historical hero's life.
  • Create captions for the pictures explaining what the pictures are/represent or must match what is being said in the movie/speech, not just thrown in randomly.
  • Your name should be in the credits; the hero's name should be in the title that the audience first sees.
  • Be creative!

  • Be neat: audio synced with pictures, no technical glitches, avoid missing content, have nice quality, etc.
  • Extra Credit will be given for appropriate/period costumes.

Evaluation:

The Cultural Diversity Presentation will be counted as one test score, evaluated with the following rubric.

Option 2:

Relevant Pictures/Images 10 points
Audio Synced with Images 5 points

Neatness 10 points
Speech Content
(quality of info, accuracy of facts)
30 points
Bibliography 5 points
Biblical Integration 10 points
Presenting as the Hero (or one of the Hero's relatives) 10 points
  100 POINTS
*Extra Credit (costume) up to +10 points
**Students will by penalized 10% every day the report is late.
